3 Things To Do To Make The Job Easier On Your HVAC Service Tech

Posted on

If you are having problems with your air conditioner, you want to get it fixed as soon as possible. That means that you will have to call an HVAC contractor and ask them to send a service tech out to your house so that they can check it out and get your AC working again. You can troubleshoot some things and do some preparation so that the service tech will have the most information possible and fix your AC as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Check Power Sources

The first step when troubleshooting is to check to make sure that the unit has power. The easiest way to do this is to check your circuit breaker. If the breaker is in the off position, that means that the circuit has been broken and that there is no way for the power to get to the unit. Flip the breaker to the on position. If your AC kicks on again, then you are in a better place. If the circuit immediately breaks again, don't try to do anything because that's a sign that there is a significant problem, and you need to wait until the service tech can check out what is going on.

Check Your Thermostat

You also need to check your thermostat to see if that is the problem. The best way to check it is to turn it down a cold as it can go. That should trigger your AC to turn on. If it doesn't, and the switch is turned to AC, then the problem could be with your thermostat.

Clear Access Routes

You can make sure that they have a clear pathway to all the things they are going to need to work on. That means the exterior and interior units and to the circuit breaker. Those are all places where the service tech is going to need to visit so that they can repair your air conditioner. When it comes to access to the actual AC units, you should also ensure that the access includes plenty of space for them to work. Also, make sure that they have access to some power outlets to plug in any equipment.

A malfunctioning air conditioner can leave you hot under the collar. You want to do what you can to get it fixed and working again as soon as possible. Contact an HVAC service company for more information about AC repair services. They will be able to send someone out to check out your unit and give you some options.
